Premier Pergolas are for discerning people who want to enhance their homes with beautiful, maintenance-free pergolas. What makes our pergolas "Premier?". We have quality and custom features that the others don't have. If you check out the following comparisons, you will see why. Go ahead - ask yourself these questions.
1. What happens when we have a high wind?
Theirs:
Quite often you will hear that wind is not a factor because of the open spacing of the trellis slats; but if they are too far apart,
you don't get any shade. Also, if they are designed without slats or with very few, it is because they do not have the strength needed for high wind or snow.
PP:
All aspects of our Premier Pergola have been engineered and built for both snow and win. Our columns are sturdier, secured better, and have inserts that are usually twice as tall as theirs. This means Premier Pergolas can withstand 85 MPH winds!
2. How about handling a heavy snow?
Theirs:
You may be told not to worry because of the space between the slats. If the trellis slats are less than 4" apart, it should be designed for
a snow load because snow does bridge over and create a solid cover. Most of their top members, rafter and headers are hollow (can't handle any weight),
or have wood inserts that do not meet code and will rot because they will collect moisture.
PP:
Every top member, rafter and headers have galvanized steel inserts inside to give them the required strength for heavy snows and high winds.
3. What column choices do I have?
Theirs:
Limited to either 6"x6" square smooth vinyl column or 8" round smooth.
PP:
Choice of 8" or 6" square fluted, square panel, square smooth, rounded fluted all are structural.
4. How about capitals?
Theirs:
No choices.
PP:
We have 5 different styles: Standard, Charleston, Scammozzi, Doric and Corinthian
5. Are there different colors I can choose from?
Theirs:
White or gray.
PP:
White, almond, tan, sandstone, or brown.
6. How do the warranties compare?
Theirs:
The standard for vinyl products: no peeling rotting, cracking or dislocation.
PP:
All of the above PLUS engineered to withstand high wind and heavy snow.
